Dear Gary,

What a lovely experience. First, the discovery of your website nearly 10 years ago. Obviously your company is more that just a "business". Your philosophy, creativity, and integrity certainly caught my attention. Seeing your rocker was love at first sight. Since that time I have visited your site often and yearned to own one of your rocking chairs.

Well, special events call for treasured gifts. For my 50th birthday my husband surprised me with my dream rocker. I was thrilled! In this day oandage, where it seems like time passes too quickly, emphasis is placed on technology, quality is sacrificed for mass production and revenue, and the individual gets lost in the crowd — it is so refreshing to know that Gary Weeks and Company exists!! You take every day items and make them extraordinary to enhance our lives and bring us joy. Rocking is therapeutic, grounding, nostalgic, and nurturing — the world would be a better place if everyone owned a Gary Weeks Rocking Chair.

The principles of simplicity and honesty are evident in your designs. I appreciate the time and care you and your craftsmen/ women (and children – the precious butterfly drawing on the crate) put into creating each detail. Just sitting in my rocker makes me feel connected to all the wonderful people who put their energy into it. I am deeply touched and grateful to own such a functional work of art. You ARE truthful — "most beautiful, most comfortable", indeed YES! I respect your family and workers for what you do and how you do it. Thank you for making a positive difference in our lives.

Take Care,
C. and B.

Gary,

The rocker arrived on time and in perfect shape. I am rockin' as I write!

We did a lot of research before we decided on "the rocker" that would work. We were looking for something functional and attractive. We spend a lot of time on the Oregon coast in the summers. Over the last 10 years, I have ogled the Myrtle wood rockers that various woodworkers have created on the coast. About a month before we decided on the Weeks rocker, my wife and I made a trip to the Oregon coast with the express purpose of buying a Myrtle wood rocker. We stopped at several shops and I "rocked" several chairs. The chairs varied in price from $2500–$5000 but, they all had one thing in common. They ALL had floating back staves and they all felt strange to rock, as with each rock the staves would flex. It felt weird, almost like the staves were going to break. A rocker should provide comfort while rocking, not anxiety.

I have sciatic problems and the Weeks rocker provides support and comfort to my back. I am also able to spend hours in front of the TV or reading in comfort while rockin'.

I worked for 7 years at a firm that made wood working machinery and I feel that I can recognize quality wood working. The Weeks rocker is an excellent example of superior American Craftsmanship.

I am proud to own a Weeks Rocker.

I recieved my rocker and I love it!!! I have to sit on a firm chair because of my back, and have been sitting on a kitchen chair for a while.

I can't tell you how many chairs I have tried that weren't supportive enough.

It is so wonderful to have a chair that is so comfortable and supportive that I can sit and relax in! It is a beautiful piece of furniture, a work of art.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

gary,

I am enjoying the rocker, as it is validates all your claims. I waited out the return period just to be certain a wood chair could possibly provide so much support and comfort. initially, the temptation to keep it just for the beauty of the design entered my mind.

I assume that by virtue of my decision to keep the rocker, I can trash the box.

enjoyed doing business with you. my back thanks you as well.

happy new year,

How delightful of you to respond!

You may not remember, but I sent you an email months ago — before ordering the rocker — to ask if you could make the seat higher because of my bum knees. (You said you really couldn't.) Obviously, we ordered it anyhow. But I just wanted to tell you that the arms on the rocker are the perfect height to assist me and I've been able to get out of it with no problem!

And I'm having knee replacement surgery in January, so expect at least some of my recuperation may involve rocking!!

Dear Gary,

D. has had his 50th birthday rocking chair for almost a year now and I can tell you that if he is home and sitting down, it is likely that he is sitting in his rocker. He is so pleased to have it. The chair sits in our living room, near the wood stove, in front of the windows looking over our back yard. The chair is comfortable enough that he can sit for hours working (he's a computer scientist and sometimes works at home) and it is roomy enough that he and his laptop fit nicely. Thank you so much for working with me to give him something that he really enjoys and cherishes.

Best,
S.

P.S. He was delighted with the surreptitious carved lizard.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for donating $1,500 towards the purchase of 2 rocking chairs for our new Longmont Wellness Education Center!

We love them and so do our clients. We positioned them by the fireplace and every time that I am in the facility, the chairs are NEVER vacant!

I also think they fit perfectly with helping our clients to self-sooth and be more at ease while waiting for their medications and treatment.

I have attached a photo here for you! (This was on move in day and since then both rockers are placed facing the fireplace.)

In the future, we plan on building a new facility offering our new treatment for mental illness in Boulder, CO and will be in touch in the future to purchase more rockers!

Thank you again Gary!!! I hope you have a great New Year!

Sincerely,
J.

Hi Gary,

Forgive the delayed response – yes, the rocker is here, and it is indeed fabulous!
I would sit in it all day if I could — truly a beautiful experience to sit in, just delightful. Last night my daughter sat in it all evening, wouldn't get up.
Everyone loves it :-)
I wish I had one in each type of wood, just for delight. I'll work on where we can fit another a little later — I'll be back in touch.
Thanks very much for all you do — exactly what I was looking and hoping for, a rocker that is a delight to every sense, and therapeutic to sit in, with no cushions at all.
You have done a wonderful thing!!

Cheers!!

To the Weeks Family and organization,

I took possession of Rocker #1753 in mid 2007. The rocker was impressive then and has improved over time. The workmanship is beyond enviable. It has survived the repeated assaults of my teenage son and his friends. I feel as though my rocker has adjusted to my body, or maybe vice versa, to the betterment of both. I can honestly say that it is my only material possession that I would grieve the loss of. Its true value far exceeds the purchase price.

Thank you,
S.G.

Dear Gary,

I am happily enjoying my new walnut rocker. It is not only fine and beautiful, but also extremely comfortable. My cousin had predicted disaster — that I would regret changing from the recliner because of the lack of padding and the inability to lean back with one’s feet up. My old recliner, named Big Blue, has gone to that Great Recliner in the Sky, and I sit like a queen in my chair where I read, knit, and watch television. I can report that my hips and legs do not hurt any more with the nerve pain that seemed to arise after about two hours. I think I can safely attribute this to the gentle curve of the rocker back as it supports the spine.

I also want to tell you how much I enjoyed the hour and a half during which we visited on the front porch of your showroom. You are a true artist and artisan, and I feel honored to enjoy one of your creations. It is an example of the integrity you build into your work, and that can only come from your own ethic of industry and honesty. I look forward to visiting you again sometime.

When I was a child, we had rocking chairs. I grew up with them, and I believe that if everyone in the world had a rocking chair, we would have less violence and trouble. They are restful to the body and soothing to the soul.

As ever,
T.J..
